Generate offline message from modbus error

I have several modbus devices connected via ethernet (TCP), Is it possible to use the error message generated when a device is offline to determine what device is offline and derive a device offline signal ?

Not really when using Channels, but if you were to poll in script you probably could because each poll is a separate line of script and so you could catch an error on an poll.
