Dale
We have an application which requires communication to DAQFactory with a ML1100 but cannot use the serial port as it is used for lighting control. Is there a way of using the Ethernet port instead.
AzeoTech
The serial port on the PC is used or the serial port on the ML1100? On the ML1100, the Ethernet port only supports Ethernet/IP, so if you had to connect in that way, you would need an Ethernet/IP OPC server so DAQFactory could connect to it. If you are trying to go from the Ethernet port of the PC to the serial port of the ML1100, then just buy a serial to Ethernet converter.
AzeoTech
As an alternative to an OPC server (which tend to be pricy), you could also get a Modbus->Micrologix Ethernet/IP gateway, such as the ones at rtaautomation.com
