While it may seem to add additional administrative overhead to implement and maintain a formal Defect/Enhancement Request application (Bugzilla, Mantis, Trac, and others), my experience indicates it would make the overall software development process run more smoothly and actually result in time saved and mistakes avoided

Those users who do not feel comfortable with such a utility could continue to use the Forum for their input.
