Rotate Text Component

This seems silly, and I've looked at the properties  but how can I add a static text component which is oriented vertically rather than horizontal

You can't.  Well, you can't rotate.  You can stack like this:

If you really want to rotate 90 degrees, you probably could create an image in some other program and then paste it into DAQFactory.
