Problems With Graphing Ditigal Outputs

Recommended Posts

I had posted about this in the Graphing forum, [ see http://www.azeotech.com/board/index.php?/topic/5393-graphing-digital-outputs ] but I thought it was important to put here because it is a problem that really needs fixed.  The issue is not that it is a limitation of the program, since there is a work-around.  But rather, that the normal approach people would use to creating this sort of graph will show INCORRECT information.

To explain, in sequence;

Create a simple graph of a digital output channel, and then set it to show a step output.

Toggle the digital output.

The the wave form only updates when you toggle.

The problem is the update shifts the square wave toggle to where it last left off.  In other words, if you last toggled 1 minute ago, and then toggle it again, the graph will show that your second toggle was 1 minute ago (minus one clock tick).

Since digital outputs are common, I imagine many people run into this problem. But, some may not catch it the display issue.
