jesawyers
Another variant of MODBUS used in the various industries I work in is MODBUS/UDP instead of MODBUS/TCP. Although not part of the MODBUS Application Protocol Specification V1.1b, I see many MODBUS/TCP slave devices support MODBUS/UDP. It's basically a PDU frame shoved into a UDP packet. The slave uses a UDP port other than the TCP port of 502. We use MODBUS/UDP for high speed transfers due to it's low overhead compared to TCP. Something to think about I guess.
