How to capture alphanumeric text?

Hi again,

I would like to use a variable value button to capture alphanumeric text (e.g., a dump truck's license plate number) and send it to a standard or virtual channel for date/time archiving.

Is that possible using the variable value component? Or is there a better way?

What do you mean by "capture"? Just have someone enter a value? If so, then a variable value control would work fine. Use the Set To action and store it in a standard Test String channel.
