Scipio
Hello, I've got an device with a 15 way logical port to read out an failure status protocoll. There are several, I think default sets to the Interface, and the commands are made by ASCII. My question is, it is generally possible to sent a command massage to these device and receive the response massage by my LabJack U12 and the DAQFactory express? I've all ready read the Manual of the programm and the U12, but without any success. There are only informations about how to handle analog signals. Thanks to every answers! regards
AzeoTech
If its serial, then presumably RS232? In which case you wouldn't go through the U12, you'd just connect to a serial port on your PC.
Scipio
That's right, it's RS232. But I've got no serial port on my Laptop, only USB. Suppose that I've got an PC with an serial port, would it be much easier to make a running program?
AzeoTech
Yes, or get a USB to serial converter for $20 from radio shack. I don't usually recommend them for industrial use, but they work pretty well if you only have one.
