patrickokeeffe
I got a new workstation this morning and now DF acts like files kept on an external HDD are read-only. I can copy them to the local disk and edit OK but I get a save-as dialog working directly off the external. I'm pretty confident it has to do with lacking Admin rights on this machine. Hopefully someone knows how to address this without pestering IT for elevated permissions...?
AzeoTech
Are you talking about .ctl docs? If so, its entirely a windows issue as DAQFactory uses core Windows calls to do document saving, so basically the same calls as any other application. My guess is that if you fired up Word or Excel you'd run into the same issue with their documents. I've seen it where .ctl docs copied off of CD's retain their read-only status, but have not seen what you describe. It is entirely possible that your company has a read-only policy in place for external drives to keep people from stealing documents by plugging in thumb drives. patrickokeeffe
Yes, I was referring to .ctl docs stored on an external. I've found two other programs experiencing the same problem so it's definitely windoze - off to IT.
