Connection Used By Another Process

Hi,

We have daqfactory connected with FATEK PLC using USB to SERIAL connector to control timers and temperatures of different zones of a blow moulding plastic machine and the problem is when running the program appears in the daq program command/alert tab a message saying ''connection used by another process'' while no other programs is using that port and I don't what is wrong, thanks

That message actually says it can't initialize the comm port.  "Used by another process" is the most common reason, especially for ports that were used before, but there are others, for example, the port doesn't exist anymore.  If the system gives this error after reboot, then there are likely one of two issues:

1) some software you don't know is running in the background and grabbing the port

2) the port is no longer there and has been assigned a different number.  This is yet another reason I dislike USB to serial converters.  If you unplug them and plug them into a different USB port they will most often be assigned a different comm port number.  Go to Device Manager and find the port #.
